I came across this music genre “Daggering”, The Most Hardcore Bump and Grind Ever. You learn something everyday
Wow, you really do learn something new every day!
I may have to look into it. On a personal basis.
Jamacian doctors have warned of the consequences of this genre. Injury to both "D" and "V"

There was a top band playing at the Castle last year called the Portables. Sounded like the Doors crossed with Punk.

I'm sure they were local. What happened to them?

I know a couple of them - there was talk of a metamorphosis situation. I shall enquire and report back.

They're still there on myspace.

Edit:- A trawl of my emails suggests that an, at least partial, reincarnation played at the Tap and Spile on October 23rd last year, but I missed that due to being abroad at the time.

They are still about - well they still practice - Ash from the Portables is the Guitarists in .44Pistol.

We've often joked about writing a Stafford bands family tree.

It would be nice to have another venue, especially doing different nights and putting on live bands, however there is an issue with Stafford and places cannibalising trade, and ideas - so an established music night in one place will quickly be diminished by somewhere else opening up n the same night.

If you spend time watching live music in Stafford, and Stafford is pretty good for it, you do notice to same people time and time again, it's quite a small community of regular music goers and any new venue or event needs to compliment what's already going on in Stafford, not eat into it.

There also needs to be support for more bands, new faces etc.

I couldn't agree more.
We're looking at introducing some external acts to the area, alongside local talents.
Possibly in an attempt to form a type of 'pen-pal' type association where acts perform in a town in return for showing off their own town's venues to some of the local musicians in the future.

I think people just generally need to be feeling a bit more creative/expressive.
Not always easy in these times - but certainly worth while!

That's a great idea if you can associate yourselves with the right people.

Good music often happens in difficult times....

However, once a month at the university(first week of each month I believe), there is a new rock night that has just been launched.
To my knowledge, you don't need to be a student to attend - don't hold me to that one though.
I know someone playing at that night this saturday, he's encouraging everyone to go so I assume you don't need SU membership...can you check for me please, NHT? :-p

Of course!
I'm heading over there later to sort a couple details out for our next Frisk event so I shall check whilst I'm there.

They may be playing at the Tap and Spile on the 26th of this month, supporting Stoke band the Black Apples - subject to confirmation.

I understand there is a new lady vocalist.

How do I edit this?
Well personally I'd like to see more roots/americana/nu-folk/alt-country type stuff. Oh and anything that's both interesting and bluesy.

Also I'm sure .44 pistol would be up for playing at some point.

I saw a band called Thornleaf at an open mic night at The Swan in Stone. The lead singer has a fantastic voice reminiscent of the lady who fronts Evanescence.

I'll have a look!

The Rock Night at the Staff Union on Satuday is open to all apparently.
This comes straight from the manager of the venue, so I'm quite happy to say it's reliable.
