Right, I think I'm missing something with Will Ferrell. I saw Anchorman and thought it was alright, and then I watched Talladega Nights the other night and I thought it was just a big pile of bollocks. But everyone goes on about how funny he is. I don't get it! I feel like I'm missing out. Can someone explain what the delio is?

i know exactly what you mean.. he himself seems like a funny chap (in interviews etc.), but i can't think of a single film i have seen him in which made me LOL.. anchorman raised a smile occasionally, but it didn't make me actually laugh like, say, shaun of the dead or zoolander..

i desperately want to like him, so i can laugh at his films like all the cool kids :meh:

I'm not sure it's Will Ferrell himself, but Anchorman was just wicked in general. I thought he was good in it, but that may have been the writing/direction etc. Steve Carrell is actually the best thing in Anchorman - his character's hilarious.

It's all subjective innit? Some people find Jim Davison funny.

He's pretty good in Stranger Than Fiction.
More 'serious' comedy than American 'arseing around like a twat' comedy.

He does play weirdo well tho,

Watched anchorman last night, it gets better with each watch but I agree with Noir and DB, the characters individually are ace, though don't like Applegate, seems like she's doin' Jennifer Aniston in Friends and she's not 'Hot' as her character is supposed to be.

i watched anchorman on rented dvd and thought it was one of the most ridiculously funny films ever. i immediately went out and bought it. its one of those films that you can watch a multitude of times a la pegg/wright productions...
san diego = whales vagina. comedy gold.
