I've tried a few but get on better with tablets, but then my general mobile usage is merely consuming rather than creating.

Not bad, but expensive for a netbook. Your paying for a touchscreen that you'll forget is a touchscreen within a week or two, more RAM than a general netbook really needs, and unless your a file hoarder a bigger hard drive than needed.
Saying that, even the same sized ATOM processor netbooks aren't that much cheaper now. You'd get more "bang for your buck" on a laptop for that money - but then you need the portability I suppose. Catch 22.

Yeah, I need to be able to edit power points & word docs and fit it easily into a bag easily to use on trains or flights.

Is screen size (you are looking at an 11.6 inch one) and touchscreen important to you?

If not then what about a good old MSI Wind:

As long as you aren't doing loads of multi-tasking or have loads of crap-ware running then it should be powerful enough. Someone "in the know" *might* be able to double the RAM for you (check first if important to you) to speed it up a bit more.

Just a case whether you think 10 inches won't satisfy you.. :bananafunk:

EDIT: Stopped for lunch half way through writing so missed your update above.
