Hello!

A group of us from college and Stafford are opening a shop in the indoor market in the next few weeks.

We're a group of artists who want to sell our work at a good rate and help bring something a little different to the Stafford market, and make it a destination to come and buy lovely locally made gifts, cards, books, original art work and a lot more. We'd love to have your support. I've just made a FB page which is below--
https://www.facebook.com/TheD33

Also, if you are an artist who would be interested we have 5 slots left,, please get in touch with me at becky@beckydraws.com if you want to know more. There is a very low weekly rate and no long term commitment hassles, as well as the opportunity to be a part of something a little bit exciting!

Thankyou! I've never EVER done anything like this before, it's a total adventure for us all and I hope it works out!

I intend to get it up and running in some form or another by 23rd July, with a sort of opening week theme fun extravaganza type affair on the Saturday 28th. Hope we will see you there!

^What he said.

Also, i have been ruminating upon this for several days...

Do you do, or have you considered doing, commissions for cat 'portraits'? Having seen your work in the college i feel quite sure that this could be the proverbial 'nice little earner' for you. If so i would be interested to know what kind of price we would be looking at?

You should most definitely give it some thought, have a few on display on the stall, and have a sign of some sort advertising your services if you think it is something you might be interested in doing.

Just a thought. :)

As a matter of fact the pictures from the college show did net me a couple of commissions from friends, so it is definitely something I will be taking to The D33.

The paintings at the show were going for £25 each, fully framed. I sold 4 of them over the course of the week! This is kind of what gave me the idea to open up a stand as selling over the internet is extremely hard, and often the best way to sell is through word of mouth and having an actual outlet (obvious really). That and I also had a dream about it (no joke I really did)

The commissions I was thinking £35 framed, £30 unframed for the simple ones like I was displaying in the college, and anything else could be discussed and agreed upon.

Also, thank you for taking the time to have a look at my stuff! Amusingly the cat portraits were something of an afterthought as I was given more space than I expected...funny how these things work out, eh?

BTW if anyone is interested this is one of the pictures Withnail is referring to-

Terry Thunderguts - Owner of the loudest purr in the West Midlands...

Here is my FB page if you want to poke around, see more stuff. I'd love a 'like' too!

Someone taking the initiative!! This is excellent news and will be there, give me a shout and I'll print you
some fridge magnet business cards...for free!!

Perhaps a bit late in (what)summer I know but had you considered T shirts of your cats; Mulder would be
marvellous. There is a company: craftycomputerpaper.co.uk who sell all manner of transfer papers
(decals and washable cotton) which I have been using of late and they are excellent i.e. not plastic based
and therefore not like wearing a carrier bag. I have samples available if you'd like to see them. The other
advantage of T shirts is, of course, lots of people get to see them and your name spreads.

Looking forward to seeing you in D33....Ecker.

Damn fine idea JohnM, might also be worth trying to find cat loving pub landladies /
landlords who could / would display your work.

Hi Becky
I have sent you a PM. We might be able to give you some extra publicity in College News. This is a paper celebrating success of current and previous students which we publish annually in August. It goes out to around 100,00 households in the area and is intended to keep people up to date with what is available at the College and perhaps inspire them to have a go. Your story would be great to include (particularly accompanied by some pics of your purrfect pals) but the deadline is tomorrow...

Nice speaking earlier to you today!

I'm going to go to the stall tomorrow (as in today, Wednesday) and take some photos of the gang and I getting it prepared, hopefully there will be something usable there!
