New kitchen tap question

We needed a new kitchen tap so purchased one at Screwfix. The accompanying flexi-hoses at 400mm were too long so bought replacement ones (300mm) off ebay.

Fitted it all this afternoon and the better half is complaining of a funny taste to the water. Does the tap/flexi hoses need flushing through ? The last tap fitted 5 years never had such issues.....

The hoses can be a little 'tasty' but it shouldn't last very long.

Is it a 'metallic' taste, or a 'plasticky' one?

Some taps also come a little over-lubricated sometimes, that can be a taste issue for a short time, too.
