How was this building allowed next door to the AHH?
Having successfully disposed of Brookfields appalling building, our guardians were considering the fact that the High House was 'unsafe' - it probably seemed a good idea to stick what was Court's furniture shop there in place of Brookfields and the replacement for the High House would also have fitted in, no doubt...

It's a traversty that we have lost some beautiful buildings and they have been replaced by crap.

This town had four, possibly five, bombs in the war, and only one went off properly - everything else you see, and don't see, is self-inflicted.

Isn't it a real shame the planners that be, can't design a building almost identical to the one in the photo? Or, can designers/builders only put up those 'Lego Buildings' these days?

It reminds me that McDonalds still have to rebuild their access for the Eccleshall Road site. They put in plans to redesign their car park to facilitate 2 order points as they do in standard at their new builds.....

Looking at the plans for the refurb, it's not clear what the 3m(sq) extension is? Can anyone help? I'm going to object to the current plans for two reasons;

1) The current store attracts significant anti-social behaviour and the refurb will increase the risk. The Walsall town-centre store has had the modernisation refurb and there are always problems now they've introduced some iPad style devices.

2) The proposed signage hanging over St Marys Gate is not appropriate or needed. There is an existing sign over Greengate Street which meets their needs.

Looking at the front of the shop, the 3m sq extension may just be the doors being brought forward in line with the rest of the frontage. Three square metres isn't actually that big an area.

Most days there are McDonalds containers at the side of the road in our village that have been thrown out of car windows.

It would appear that the time it takes to eat a meal after purchasing from either the Cannock drive through or the Stafford drive through, is exactly the time it takes to reach our village.

The scumbags then dont want their car to stink of chips so, instead of taking the rubbish home, or finding a bin, its easier to just chuck it out of the window and expect someone else to pick it up.

I really really despise the people that do this.

Do you not know we are there to serve the younger generation, kids today the law is on their side all the way and if they stray of the path onto the naughty road it's down to their upbringing, but it will never be their fault.

Only being a adopted Staffordian I hadn't realised that the McDonald's building was a Bratt and Dyke development. According to Staffs Pasttrack anyway:

Bratt & Dyke bought the Brookfields building in 1965 and demolished it to build the basis of what we see there today.

Brookfields had several premises in the town, most notably what is now HSBC.
