New milkshake shop in the Guildhall

Someone's just told me they're off to check out the new milkshake shop which has opened in the old T-Mobile premises just inside the main entrance to the Guildhall. Anybody know anything about this?

What do they sell there then?

;)

Must admit I noticed this the other day, but wasn't open they were working on it.
I take it we're talking American style milkshake's in big tall glasses with icecream, squirty cream, fudge pieces, chocolate flakey bits, spiral straws etc?? If not, has anyone told them McDonalds is 15 to 20 seconds away?

It's a franchise I think, I went to one of the same name in Oxford, and spent about 40 minutes deciding what I wanted, you can have many combonations of ice cream and different chocolate bars in it.

I too went to the one in Oxford.. funnily enough she asked if I wanted a loyalty card... "its ok" say I, "i'm only here for the day" and she replies "we're a franchise, we're opening up all over the country".... I smile and say, "I doubt you'll be opening one in Stafford".... :D

My comments:

This place basically do milkshakes of everyday foods blended to shiz and with milk and ice cream. So as I remember there was carrot cake, milky way, milky bar, refreshers, love hearts, after eight, jammy dodger... you name it, they will blend it into a milkshake.

Whilst its great to see a new company coming to Stafford, I wasn't a big fan of them though for two reasons...

1. They are expensive.... McDonalds large milkshake is £1.59.... Shakeaway's large is £2.50 and is half the size of McD's large. Also I love thick milkshakes... this place charge about 50p extra if you want it "thicker" and even then it wasn't thick like McD's for my liking.

2. Of the flavours that I tried, I was a bit indifferent. I had milkybar and to be honest it tasted of sweet FA. Everyone knows when chocolate is cold it is carp and when it melts its yummy. So it makes sense no matter how much you blend a milky bar, if its cold, it ain't going to flavour anything. Having said that, the carrot cake was better but still not great.

I hope it does well but I doubt i'll be going there much. I think it will be one of those places that everyone will want to try once but then most won't be fussed about visiting again.

I could be wrong though.

Regular £2.70, Large £3.70.

I'll give it a miss at them prices

Depend what you want, maccyDs are bound to be cheaper as they use a flavoured powder base.......

It'd have to be impressive to make me spend more on a milkshake than my lunch, may have the odd one but will def not be a regular. Its more than a pint!

I was wanting to say £3.50 for the large but thought I must have been mistaken and there was no way it could be that much.... should of stuck to my first thoughts...

And if £3.70 isn't enough for your milkshake....:

You can experiment and Mix Flavours.... Just 70p for each Extra Flavour...
Like it even thicker?.... Add Extra Ice Cream for 30p...
...You can add Sexy Toppings for 30p !
...For 50p, get yourself some Additudeâ„¢ ! ~ Bran ~ Malt ~ Energy ~ Wheatgerm ~ Protein ~ Muscle Builder ~

So just to make my large milkshake thicker = £4...... YIKES!!!

and then they have popular named coctails at £3.40 a regular and £4.40 a large. Make that thicker and you've got yourself a large one for £4.70

now... forgive me for stating the obvious, but at that price I can get a supersized Big Mac meal, with a strawberry shake, and still have change.. can't I?
I'll stick with Maccy D's!!

Just noticed this...

http://www.shakeaway.com/subsites/uk/savercards.htm

ah.... so that's alright then. If I spend a minimum of £18.50 (large shakes) or £27.00 (regular shakes), I can get a free regular shake worth £2.70. That makes it all ok then. I'll now rush in there tomorrow and spend nearly £20 on a drink for my kids, happily knowing that I'll get to try one myself for free...... HARDLY!!

Bring on a BOGOF offer and you might just tempt me in!!
lol

You are of course correct Basil... IIRC they use organic milk possibly and I dare say very good indgreients.... I just wonder how well they will do in Stafford when a) its dead at the best of times and b) Stafford isn't exactly affluent and there is a credit crunch on.

I am inclined to agree, I think their business model is based on inner city London or Manchester where there is a bit of cash to splash, small towns like Stafford won't, I don't believe, be able to sustain such naked profiteering!

Bloody hell...there's no way on earth I'd consider spending that much on a milkshake!

When you click on the link to their homepage there's a photo to the left which changes....however the first one I saw was this, which I think is rather apt considering that's where you'll need to go to afford one!

afraid not, not these days.. they did away with supersize a few years ago, because fat people blamed mcdonalds for being fat.. a large value meal is about £4.59 i think, so if you were adding a milkshake to this i assume it would push you over the five pound threshold!

still, i'd much rather have a mcdonalds than some cuffy milkshake, any day of the week..

I think it will do alright. Just look at the amount of cafe's / coffee shops we now have and it is in a prime location.
