new mot regulations

just a quick heads up about new regs now in force for mot's, the worst of which regards dash warning lights. there are a few exceptions but basically if your car throws a warning up on the dash there's a strong chance it's now an mot fail, even if it doesn't affect the way it runs, or anything to do with emissions or safety.
the more cynical might think the government are trying to force old cars off the road thus forcing us all be good consumers and buy new cars that have been lifed by the design engineers to fall apart exact 12 months after the warranty expires leaving the consumer trapped in a finance deal that makes them renew their car or face extorsionate repair bills.
only cynical people would think that though.

Not a problem for me and my 1958 Austin A35 - Road tax £0, MOT £0, Insurance £56 fully comp with roadside recovery :bananafunk:But I see your point. Keeping a modern classic on the road with these sort of MOT restrictions is going to become very difficult. Perhaps a bit of DIY dash redesign with colour coded masking tape is in order :heyhey:

in my humble opinion I think you've got the right idea. to avoid getting shafted by the government, buy a classic. plus it will go up in value not down. maybe even drop a diesel engine in it and run it on vegetable oil. fuel tax zero.
