Its that time of year again, I'm due a new phone. The problem is I am very undecided, I really like the nexus 5 but EE don't do it. That may be a good thing, my main reason for staying with EE is that I have a femtocell in the house and a lot of other phones don't work there, but anyway.....

    Must be android
Must not be full of crap software
    Prefer a good camera
Not overly huge (>5" is taking the piss really, I already own a tablet)

As for the network, I just want good coverage in Stafford. Not fussed about 4G, just want a decent signal around town and at home (Holmcroft).

I've found a few good deals lately, I can get the nexus 5 on 3 mobile for £20 (600/ultd/1Gb) or a HTC One M8 for about £26 after cashback on O2 (ultd/ultd/1Gb). You can't get the nexus 5 from EE because they wont stock it, which seriously limits availability.

Hmm, on O2 I can get the nexus 5 refurb for about £17/month after cashback with ultd/ultd/1Gb. Tempting.

Are you sure you can't get the Nexus 5 on EE, sure I read it somewhere the other day...

That O2 deal looks very good, got to be tempted by that, in fact I am and after my recent ass kicking of EE, I may well switch when I weedle out my free service in a few months. Where did you find that O2 deal?

Oh and what the hell is a femtocell?

I have the M7 HTC One and love it to bits so if the M8 is better then I would highly recommend it.

Very low-range base-station, to fill in dead spots from 'real' base-stations, where high usage may be expected.

Carphone Warehouse will do the Nexus 5 on an EE contract. Don't know what the TCB deals are like with them though.

How about Negotiating a reduction in cost on your existing contract instead of a phone upgrade and then buying a sim free phone yourself. The Nexus 5 is only £300 sim free and the Motorola Moto G (4g version) will only be £160 when it's released at the end of the month.

On paper the Z1 compact looks intriguing, anyone used one?
