If you love an oatcake and haven't tried Oatcakes & MIlkshakes in Stone... YOU MUST! I believe they are also considering opening one up in Stafford too.

Myself and the wife went today. Lovely freshly made oatcakes at very reasonable prices - from around £1.30 up to £2.30 I think, with most of the popular ones costing around £1.80 each. They also made a lovely cappucino and all hot drinks were priced at £1.50 each. We expected it to be far more expensive.

My only 2 little niggles were the 2 young lads taking orders didn't give out that positive energy that I feel these kind of places need. A smile and a simple "Hi, what can I get you?" would have made all the difference instead of just looking at us saying "yeah?". They weren't very old though so hopefully they'll learn. The second niggle was that they managed to mess our order up by placing one of my wife's on my plate and vice versa, even after the cook had asked which ones we wanted on which plates. Their till system needs sorting so as to itemise the order "by plate" and make it easier for the ones preparing the food.

Don't let this put you off though. It's the first proper homemade oatcake I've ever had and it was bloody lovely!!

I have investigated - my Stone agents say - "It's very good.....tho I don't personally think that milkshake goes with oatcakes! Yuk! Oatcakes excellent and not over priced. Milkshake was good too, but not a good combination. Their coffee was OK too" and "It's bloody fantastic.. Get yourself over and try it out"

I've just thought of another niggle looking at the picture above, those furthest away pink high stools are right alongside food prep area which I thought was a bit strange as well. A guy sitting there was coughing quite a bit which is what made me think about it. And where the furthest blue ones are there weren't actually any at all for whatever reason. I personally think they should move them over and leave the food prep area clear.

What are the milkshakes like @wmrcomputers ?

I can't abide milk, but, I occasionally like a latte or milkshake - but only if the milkshake is the consistency of milk, not the thick glue type stuff that they sell in maccies ...

Husband loves oatcakes !

Milkshakes and oatcakes.......hmmmmmm.

to be honest not a fan of oatcakes, nothing special about them. Wouldn't see them doing business here, I run staff of 15 people 2 from Stoke and those are the only 2 that rave or like oatcakes. Think its mostly a stoke thing.

Sorry but I have to disagree. I know plently of people - not just from Stafford or Stoke that LOVE oatcakes. Fair enough you don't like them - they're not everyone's thing, but the shop in Stone was rammed, and I mean RAMMED with people. And I didn't hear a Stoke accent anywhere.

I haven't had the opportunity to go to the Stafford one yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it. Double cheese, sausage and mushrooms please with a cappucino. :)
