Photography Courses

Hi folks,

Am thinking about doing a photography course to finally figure out how to use my camera that I spent a lot of money on... my motivation is knowing a I have an extra family member on the way for July :) :) :)

Anyway I am stuck between doing something like this GROUPON DEAL IN STOKE

or finding something at Stafford / South Staffs College. Like this one Wombourne Library through Stafford College

Problem I am having with the later of the two is a) there is very little detail about what the course includes b) its a fair drive for 2 1/2 hours a week over four weeks.

Do any of our Stafford College contingent know of any Stafford or local courses that might be any good?

Or has anyone done any digital photography courses and can feed back on how good or bad they were?

Cheers

I had a voucher for this one for Christmas. Not sure how good it is, but I'm going to do the SLR course at some point.

I found this intriguing, a lot of trumpet blowing about Patrick Lichfield and the Shugborough estate and not a word about the course....more bloody hype!!

A friend of mine did (i think) 2 courses at Cannock College and was positively glowing about it, I'll get more details for you soon.

They are currently offering a digital photography and Photoshop course, more details at:

I think that particular page just tells you about the venue.

Excellent Withnail, thanks... which edition was this in please?

I also thought I replied earlier to say thanks Ecker for the link, that course sounds excellent, shame about the £85 price tag.... might have to save up a bit before I try that...

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
I've never been on a course. I found the best way to improve was to take loads of photos and read photography magazines. Oh and time helps. I've had my DSLR less than three years and my photography is miles better than it was when I first started using it.

I did an evening PT City and Guilds course at the Oval in about 2005, I think.

it was great, a really good cohort of students and we had a great tutor by the name of Richard Weston. He was really supportive and interested in what you were doing.

I wonder if the college couldn't get Richard back?

Anyway, I enjoyed my time at the Oval and remember it fondly.

Managed to bag a Groupon deal earlier in the week for a 6 hour course in Chester... booked in for May and have heard from a friend who did the same course and enjoyed it. Should be good.

I did the course with a guy called Mike Phizacklea but he has retired now. The Rich Simpson who I think is still at the college.
