I was told, by somebody that 'knew', that it was better to fill the reservoir after a couple of drinks, as completely sober piss would be a clue to some subterfuge. The technique was to have a hip-flask, so that the liquid was warm ( another tell-tale sign ) and it was essential to remember what was in the hip-flask...

The pipe and valve could be dispensed with if one was confident of getting away with the old "I can't do it whilst you're watching" routine.
