By the time I'd got back from this weekend's pursuits Sainsbury's was shut, so I decided to order a Domino's. As I'd been to the pub to watch the football on an empty stomach, the lad on the phone managed to dupe me into ordering £13.99's worth of food (pizza, chicken things and wedges). It took forever to arrive, and when it did it looked like whoever had made the pizza had done so by throwing ingredients onto the base from the other side of the kitchen, and then the driver had attached it to his hub cap as he was driving. The wedges and chicken were cold and crap too, so I decided to call them and tell them that I wasn't impressed.

The manager was very apologetic, and without hesitation he offered me a free personal pizza next time I ordered. I told him that there would be no next time, so he sent a driver round with £14 within 10 minutes of my call!

I will use them again as I've had some tasty treats from there before, plus I know dirtybobby etc sing their praises. So, after the initial confusion of spending £3.99 more than intended, I ended up being paid 1p to eat a shoddily prepared pizza!

So you still ate it then?
Yeah! I was starving! My call was to express concern at the lack of build quality etc; if I'd been in a restaurant and my food had come to the table in a similar manner I'd have complained too. A restaurant would have taken my meal back and re-plated it (or re-cooked it), but considering I'd waited so long already I wasn't interested in them sending me another order.

I dunno, had a meal in the Castle Tavern and my GF ordered some weird ass dish with apricots in it (because half the dishes I asked for weren't on). She started eating, and after a few mouthfulls realised there was no apricot. We asked, and they said they'd run out. Thats it, end of. Just walked away as if that was fine! You know, its not like they are opposite a bloddy big supermarket or anything.

Needless to say we aint been back!

Well...the Castle Tavern, in its previous incarnation, was a completely different kettle of fish!

Whats it like nowadays? Does it sell :pie:?
TBH it's rarely open when I go past, and I've not been in there for yonks so I've no idea what their offerings are.

edit: In fact, now I think about it, the chef was in the Railway last night watching the football.

Always seems closed when I've been past too. Shame really, back in the day when they sold chicken stuffed with haggis it rocked!

The last we heard was that John, the fella who now runs it, was going to be sorting out a bar menu like Ash did when he first took over. ~£5 for 6oz rump, chips, salad etc. The place was pretty busy when this was available, and John knows that it's the only quick and effective way to get people through the doors again. Hopefully he'll do that sooner rather than later...

Although it was in Aix les Bains, Savoie - and not Stafford - the nicest pizza that I've ever had was a pizza forestiere, which contained all sorts of substantial comestibles, including a poached egg. It was served folded up rather like a Cornish pasty. Truly marvellous.

I'm quite partial to pizza after payday and have used Dominoes in the past when able to get voucher codes, quality is always good if a tad expensive.

Does anybody have any alternative suggestions?

Perfect pizza was far from perfect and inedible, so I won't be using them again.

Placed an order with TGF tonight which comes to less than a dominoes with garlic bread & sweet, eta 20 mins........

Dire service, delivery was an hour late with a lukewarm pizza, cold garlic bread and frozen cheesecake.

Two slices and the pizza was cold.

Phoned to complain and was told "do special deal next time mate".

Don't think so.
