Planning permission given to Next to demolish their Next Home store and rebuild it.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Can only be good news for all us men who just love wandering around Next Home.... :lorks:

Seriously though, it must be good news if Next think there is enough trade in the town to support a larger store.

oi, don't lump us all together - i love Next, and this is great news! i was just in there at the weekend, in fact, eyeing up a Sherlock chair and matching storage footstool.. planning on ordering one next week - 7 week lead time though :gonk:

any idea when work is due to commence? it better not interfere with my ruddy chair! on the upside, they might be having a pretty spiffing sale to get rid of stuff prior to demolishing the place

Blimey - that building's not that old....

Then again I bet it's been there longer than you think.. :strange:

Simple : The Council should have turned the application down as the reduction in parking is not acceptable. During peak periods the number of spaces is already not enough. Or I suppose the other solution is if the owners of the retail park provided a free shuttle bus from Stafford town centre. After all they are now bringing in over 2 million pounds a year in rent, so they can afford it. Also it might just put the town centre out of its misery for good.

Could we get Aldi to go into the old next store ?, would be better for traffic than the proposed caravan site build.

Maybe Next could move back into town where there are plenty of empty buildings and no doubt will be plenty more in the coming year. At least customers would be able to choose which traffic jam they want to sit in.

From experience 7 weeks is sometimes 7 weeks but it can actually be just 2 weeks.

Think I have posted somewhere else, if ne1 knows where Aldi is going as they have already advertised on the web for management post,, and I thought Freedom Caravans was a no go! Planning!

When you consider that Next will be expecting to keep/increase customers with the combined store, and the addition of who ever moves into their old store I would imagine parking could be stretched at peak times. The traffic survey on the application was carried out in June, hardly a "busy" month.....

There's always plenty of spaces to the side of the Next Home store and in front of Gala. I suspect it wont make much difference. Always with the negatives, isn't it?

There was, the store is expanding over quite a few of them.

To be fair, I expect bbw's view of Next is by faaaaaaaaaaaar, the majority view amongst men.

There appears to be a growing trend for bulldozing and re-building.
Foxwalls on the Marston road, sheltered housing, has been shredded
to make way for guess what? Sheltered housing.

Someone is lining someone's pockets.

I can see Next's point for doing it. Better to have it all under one attractive roof than a couple. Also with the town centre development they probably want to have something that will draw people into Queens Retail Park...
