Plex

I imagine a few people on here use Plex as a media server/player. I am just starting out in this and need some advice on what to store the files on. Currently am using my laptop as the server and playing through iPad, Now TV box and Samsung Smart TV. Turn my laptop off at night but sometimes want to watch something on my iPad late at night.
Is a Mac mini connected to my router and always on, a good server for the files ... main reason I am thinking of that is the size of the Mac mini in comparison to anything else!

I have Plex on my iPad ... just need something to store the media files, which is always available rather than leaving my laptop on (where the media is currently stored).

Ipads don't support usb but i think you could buy a usb memory stick and i think you can buy a USB adapter for your Ipad and you may be able to plug your memory stick into it but you will need to do the research as i am not 100% sure sorry.

I use a HP microserver, not the most powerful beast but uses about 50w of power. This is VERY important if it is on 24/7, especially as I have 2! Bit busy right now but if you need any advice at all just post here and I'll do my best to help.

Been offered a Mac Mini 2Ghz processor, 4GB RAM for £200 ... should be enough for what I am doing. Not going to be using the Mac Mini for anything else apart from maybe plugging my weather station in to it so it is always uploading data to Weather Underground.
