Police Headquarters to be Demolished

I have heard a rumour that the Police headquarters between Wildwood and Baswich are to be knocked down to make way for houses. Does anyone know if it is true?

(I hope they replace the two stupid mini roundabouts with one big one.)

Staffordshire Police are trying to gain planning permission for the land to build houses. If they get it they can then sell the land as a job lot to help pay for their move the new Weston Road premises.

They already have planning permission for a small area of their land to build houses apparently but now they want to sell it all!

I remember those. The dogs doing the obstacle course then running and biting a 'criminal'. Playing in the cop cars and making the siren work!

The new place just isn't conducive to welcoming the public is it

You can bet that the number of homes will be closer to 200 than 100.

I wonder if the estate entrance will be on the Cannock Road like the HQ entrance is now?

Those two mini-islands are better than the traffic lights! I can't see how they could put one big island up there and make it work.

That's right - round the back near the garages - they had a slalom / manouvering course (I wasn't old enough to drive unfortunately) I also remember going into the building - possibly the comms room and seeing loads of green screen IBM PC's haha.

You can imagine it will be an awful estate like that one on the old BRC site. A maze of roads, and one way in/out. Plus awful 3 storey town houses and a shoebox size garden.

Would be nicer if they turned it into a park, but there's no money in that.
