I guess the Didcot power station conflagration hasn't helped.
Had a phone call this morning from Western Power asking if we had received our notification of impending power cut as they have ' been having some trouble with royal mail'It came from Western Power Distribution in this mornings post. I have been watching them working on fitting new power poles for the last few weeks and have been expecting something through the letter box. Previously a western power worker has posted a notice by hand. It might be my fault as we called them out to fit a sleeve on our power cable whilst we had the garage roof replaced and they were having a general look about after sorting us out.
Western Power have sent me a nice fridge magnet with their 0800 6783 105 'Power Cut' number on - just in case. The number is supposed to 'glow in the dark', but mine certainly doesn't, even after ten minutes 'charging up' under a bright light, there's not a hint of any glow visible. Ah, well.
It comes attached to a card showing their area of operation which extends all the way to the Lincolnshire coast - hardly 'Western'..?
I think it's their idea of a joke. It doesn't glow in the dark any more than your lights will during a power cut.Mine doesn't glow in the dark either, even after 10 days exposure to light.
