I'm a Staffooooooordian
Er, has anyone noticed this story? Talks were being held with a view to getting the head of Cannock council to run Stafford council. These talks have now been ended by the Cannock side. Now, sorry, is it just me, or did giving control of Stafford Borough Council to someone whose priority is Cannock sound like a really bad idea? The other way round - I could see there being room for discussion, but Stafford, the county blimmin town, controlled from Cannock (which is quite nice, too, let's not forget)? What will our Conservative councillors think of next? Answers on a postcard, please...

The esteemed Express & Star also carried a couple of articles:

Mind you, if the government ever get round to their local government re-organisation (bound to happen at some point), the two-tier system will probably go out the window, and we'll end up with mergers to create unitary authorities.
