On returning from a weef away, i notice the Prince of Wales seems to be open once more. Not sure the word is out yet though as last night looked quieter than a party at Tequila Red.

I would have thought that most pubgoers knew that Jon Bolton of the Rickerscote Arms was taking on the additional license. There is a grapevine in the pubs, but if you don't frequent them that could be a reason for you not knowing.

TBH I no longer have a 'local' as such. Well, I have the Kings Arms, but I don't go out anywhere near as much as I used to. Since the hogshead closed most of my mates started drinking more at home, I think the smoking ban had a lot to do with that.

So no, the pub grapevine may reach those in the pubs but surely that just moves the same drinkers around different venues? If I hadn't read it here, I'd assume it was closed and wouldn't venture there. They need to let people know if they want them to drink!

Yep 'The Yorkshire Pride' last week, extremely busy everyday from 9.30am to 2am. Served food until 10.30pm then provided a duo or trio with 70s 80s music. Lager price changed at this point from 90p to £1.35 a pint. Admittedly the owners have been there 16 years so have honed their skills to suit the punters. Where the hell's the Yorkshire Pride you're thinking, answer Benidorm.

I walked past there this evening around 2130 hours and saw three people drinking in the bar. I didn't clock how many were in the lounge though.

Will they bring back the sunday night quiz do you think? I used to frequent that a lot (was part of the team "and in last place" in case anyone else used to go to it) and it was great fun, also free chip butties during the evening!

Well if they do might be worth going at this rate, with so few people in there will increase chances of winning.

 if we both went it would be 2 teams of one so make a deal with you split the prize 50/50 :D:

we are in a very strange time

as a nation we are told we drink more than ever ( unless of course you can remember the 29 ginshops in the town centre )

yet you would not be surprised to hear of any pub in the town shutting up shop today ( bar perhaps the picture house )

i think my idea for two day licences and a tiny capacity - in peoples fron rooms - may still catch on

Not a bad idea I can create 40 pints a time, at a cost of about 30 pence a pint, if I did it in bulk even cheaper, sell it at a bit less than today's prices, a bit to the tax man, should leave a decent profit to me.
