Just upgraded to a gen 8 so the N54L is surplus to requirements. About a year old and in perfect condition.
Great for running plex through your home network as well as other server duties or even as a low power pc.
Comes with 4Gb ram installed and 80Gb ssd boot drive

The unit has had a bios upgrade so it will allow a ssd drive to be mounted for any operating system , this would leave 4 harddrive slots available for storage.
SSD front loading caddy installed so any operating system can be loaded in seconds .. Just swap SSD.

£75

(... I can also supply a flat screen monitor if required with the unit for an extra £10 , so you would have to only have to buy a keyboard and mouse , and windows 7,8,or 10 if used as a standalone pc )

I purchased a new Dell recently so was going to sell my n54l. Ended up repurposing as the file server so will have an n40l going spare instead.

These make great home servers, very low power consumption and beats most NAS boxes hands down.

I maybe interested but i am a bit nooby i run Plex on my main pc but it has a 950psu so if i was to buy thisd i woild need to buy Windows and a few more HDDs ? and then i would load my plex stuff on the drives just like on my pc but i would be able to leave it on all the time is that correct? sorry for the newbie questions.

yes , windows 7 would be my choice , as its a server that would mainly be run headless ( ie; accessed through your own pc) you wouldnt really require the lastest bells and whistles anyway ... and you would prob source windows 7 cheaper than ten these days .

mine and indeed teks servers have a 150w psu , but usually the load would be in the area of 35w max .

it all depends on how you wanted to run plex , these servers can take a small graphics card as theres a pci slot available ... then HDMI direct to your tv or as you correctly say , add a few HDDs for storage and connect to your network to stream throughout your network of computers , roku boxes , tablets etc.

regarding backups , this would be governed by your own computers software or even specialised purchased software , you would only need to tell the software to send the backup to one of your HDDs on the server , after that , say once a week , just an incremental backup ( ie: only send any changes in that week).
hope thats made things a little clearer :)

If you were going the plex route.....

I personally have the server in the attic on 24/7, due to its low power usage it costs maybe £50 a year. I then use nowTV boxes as my plex clients as they are both extremely low powered and silent, and can be got for £15 each. I have these on every TV in the house, and my OHs house, and several others! You usually get a few months movies/TV with each nowTV box too, and can have 4 boxes on an account (2 watching at any time) which is the cheapest way to get sky movies.

Hi Tek i use two sky now boxes and my tv has the Plex app on it as well. Plex on Amazon Fire Stick is absolutly rubbish with freezes and constantly saying your internet is not fast enough.

No worries :)

Im not in any urgent need to sell anyway , just offering it up on here made more sense rather than putting it into storage .
Couldnt be @rsed going the ebay route ;)
