    Weren't the tories selling off the forests? This extra income will make them more attractive.

    so will the roads over the chase become clogged with parked cars to avoid charges?

    People have realised they can have leisure time without paying for it, that has to be stopped!

    Just read a bit more on this, basically they say they need to charge the money to protect the place. Their consultation was with just 130 entities (some were businesses rather than people) and doesn't say what they will do.

    I guess I pay when visiting NT places, but I'll certainly use it less if paying every time to park.

    Enough to make it economically nonviable enough to be sold off cheap, but with enough expected revenue from future charges to make it rather attractive to friends of the right people.
