I'm related to them by some tenious link, wondered why they all died young...Tinkerbell said:I worked at Henry Venables Ltd (which was at Doxey Road) I was there for clerical stuff but ended up being the glorified coffee girl.
I have to admit ... (I hope there is anonimity on here !!!) when the Venables brothers asked for a coffee .... just at home time I used to swirl the dish cloth (which had probably cleaned everywhere !! ) in the coffee. Childish - YES but the satisfaction watching them drink it was fabulous !!
I have now learnt ........ some 20 years later if I annoy a member of staff I NEVER drink their coffee if they offer to make one.

Are you sure your worst job wasn't helping me move? I'm sure the T- taking comic boxes up two flights of stairs still has nightmares. Haven't seen him for a while...Gramaisc said:The worst job I've done was to sand the floors in a terraced house on a blistering hot day. We hired a giant drum-sander from traction. The filth, dust, noise, heat, sweat, more filth and the imminent risk of a dust explosion were almost too much to bear. We knew that if we stopped just once then we would never go back in to finish it. My ear wax was like damp chipboard for the next three weeks.
I had blotted that one out - I only did the ascent to the first floor with the comic boxes. The Teuton did the final assault on the summit - and without supplementary oxygen.Florence said:Are you sure your worst job wasn't helping me move? Comic boxes? I know them well. You really don't want to be carrying them up too many stairs.Gramaisc said:I only did the ascent to the first floor with the comic boxes
I do hope that you have included this information in your subsequent CVs.Colossal said:my full title: "agency **** taking away our overtime".
I do hope that your riposte was something along the lines of "greedy ****s taking away my job". It's quite simple people: the more hours you work overtime, the fewer jobs there are for the unemployed. You work too hard anyway.Colossal said:my full title: "agency **** taking away our overtime".
Precisely! Well said. I don't think that they had an understanding of simple economics. Less jobs = more unemployed = more tax = overtime irrelvant.Lunar Scorpion said:I do hope that your riposte was something along the lines of "greedy ****s taking away my job".
