Hubby spotted it at 10:30am and when we drove past again at 12 it had been covered up.

Guess this crime has not been reported then ?

You really think the police have time to investigate a little bit of graffiti? They don't have time to investigate burglary, and other more serious crimes so why would they waste time with a bit of spray paint on a wall?

Personally I'd rather they focused on crimes where there is an actual victim!

Personally I'd rather they did their job and attempted to tackle all crime, including racist graffiti. It is a pity society no longer expects them to and they no longer have the resources to do so.

I don't think anybody expects them to devote huge resources into investigating a single piece of graffiti, but they do need to be aware that it exists. Whether they pursue it or not is an operational matter for them. If they are unaware of the actual levels of crime, they can't really allocate resources adequately.

In the current climate, racist crimes may be regarded with a slightly sharper perspective than they were.

They should looking at the very least for a recording aspect.

Race and hate crime are serious, police are as much there for the prevention of crime as well as solving it.

Such things can insight poorer behaviour and it needs to be stamped where possible. It could be a simple as a few kids being dick heads, so if it was evident police were looking at it, it may put off people doing it again or elsewhere in the town.

It simply shouldn't be tolerated and police should be made aware. It is for them to determine how it is looked at.

Have you come our of the 19th century or something? We have a Conservative governemnt, funding for all public services is slashed year on year. Police numbers are declining year on year. This is what Conservative voters voted for. It's a bit late to be expecting the police to maintain standards of law-prevention and enforcement that is heavy on man power when they are manpower light.

When I last spoke to my local policeman (a proper policeman, not the pretend ones) he said (if memory serves me correctly) that they had 54 open cases on my patch and 3 officers. You are deluded if you think the police have the resources to worry about a bit of spray paint on a motorway bridge.

All those who voted Conservative - this is your doing!!!

I don't give 2 hoots about cuts, I pay my rates and when I see crime I expect the police to handle it regardless.

If that simply means logging it for any future trends then so be it, you say yourself about how many cases open, one more won't hurt especially when it comes to racism and hatred in today's climate
