Replacement Double glazed misted up units

Hello,

I have an elderly friend in Acton Trussell who needs 3 units in her windows relacing and it seems a hard task to find anyone locally who wants to do this job. All the companies phoned will replace the window but not just the sealed unit. I have searched this forum and found the guy who you take measurements to and he will supply only but we need someone who will turn up measure then return with the units and fit them.

Any recommendations on this please?

Cheers...

I recently used a company called the Window Repair Centre Ltd, who claim to do this sort of thing, though it was not what i had done.

They were good for what i wanted - initial visit to size up/price the job, followed by fitting wallah about a week later. All was done as and when they said it would and the price seemed reasonable.

http://www.winterwarmth.co.uk/ - someone on the forum recommended them to me. I haven't had the work done yet as I have been too busy to commit to a date. However I did contact them for prices and they were very professional. I will be organising the work when the kids go back to school!

A misted unit doesn't make much difference to the U value or sound insulation, just looks a little unsightly.

If you are going to have replacements put in the same frame ensure that the replacement is fitted on a drainage channel, if they put the new unit in an existing wooden frame without putting spacers in to allow for drainage you will be back in the same situation in a few years.

If it's a sash window or narrow rebate take a look at Pilkington Spacia,
