Riverside development - Footpath closure farce continues

I may have gone on about this before in previous threads.

The footpath closures are now coming into force round the Riverside development:

The footpath and cycleway alongside Queensway has closed. People trying to get to ASDA from Wolverhampton road either have to walk into town and back out down South Walls, or go all the way round Lichfield Road and Riverway!

In this day and age, to think that they can't keep a strip 6 foot wide down the side of the development beggars belief.

Also, the clowns had a go at blocking off the footpath down South Walls last night, causing absolute chaos. Pedestrians were walking in the road, putting themselves at great risk. The illegal pavement cyclists were now illegally cycling the wrong way down South Walls.

I went out at lunchtime today to see that the fence line had been pushed back to the back edge of the pavement. A (temporary?) victory for common sense. The alternative route involves crossing South Walls twice, once on a blind bend. Plus the footpath on the other side of South walls is totally inadequate, covered in weeds and the bonnets of parked cars.

I first complained about this years ago at the first meeting that they had when the development was mooted and they've not made any accommodation for pedestrians in the intervening times.

Hopefully the local media will pick this up and bring it into focus before somebody gets hurt.
