Roadworks just outside of Stafford

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have some genius's at work in the road planning department.

The very day, as I leave Stafford for work and see the lollipop people by the sides of the roads awaiting their charges, I am reminded that the schools return today.

And then promptly hit a four way traffic control system at Milford Common that appears to be there to guard a small hole being worked on off the side of one of the roads (though I'm sure it will turn into a much bigger hole).

It wasn't there yesterday, and the kids weren't at school. The traffic was calmer, the roads clearer. Could it have been done then? Who knows, but someone must have planned this that a) doesn't have kids and b) doesn't have a calendar with the schedules of events that would increase the road usage.

Welcome to Stafford....

How many times have they closed roads in the area to install new gas / electricity / telephone / cable pipes and then patched it up with all the same potholes there as before....

Common sense dictates if you've got a road closed off for a few weeks, take the opportunity to resurface it or at least fill the potholes while you're at it.....

If the roadworks on Sandon Road are anything to go by, your small hole in the Milford area will take rather a long time to get filled in.

At least with all these roadworks, they're keeping people in work. I mean, what else would the highways bosses have to do if they couldn't stand there watchin 1 guy digging a bit of a hole!!!!!!!!!

Didn't see this in Stafford, but was working in Aldersley last week and as i passed a section for roadworks, there was 1 guy with his spade, digging away at this hole, anf ther were 9, yes 9 guys standing there watching him.

And to cap it all, they had the old fashion Stop/Go signs to control the traffic and, unlike it used to be, 1 guy one end, one tother, these were automatic battery powered versions.

Shame, 2 guys put out of work.

People are too quick too moan, and not see the positives.

The work this Summer on the Newport Road has been completed during the summer holidays with little fuss. Works on the Wolverhampton Road, Newport Road and Silkmore Lane have all taken place during the past 3 summers to minimise disruption for Staffordians.
