Running

Anyone doing Katherine House runs on Oct 4th? 10K & 5K.
While on the subject of running I think the Stafford half entry opens on Nov 3rd.
I am doing both! Training going well at present. Have modified it considerably in order to attempt to avoid injuries! Now run for and hour one day, followed by a faster 30/40 minutes next day. This is followed by 2 days rest, and plenty of stretching.
In the Half I am aiming to beat the 1.48 I ran in 2013! I ran last year, but only managed 5 Miles before pulling out! Having been reduced to walking up Radford Bank and down Baswich Lane! This debacle may have something to do with me going to Stoke A&E the night before, after fainting when getting out of the bath! Later discovered I had a Nuro Virus, which may have accounted for the squits and vomiting! :xd:.
Whatever happens I hope I finish this year, reported to be 5,000 doing it, and using last years course! :bravo:

I would like to take part in the transplant games in a running event next year....May be less running and more of a speedy walk mind but that's what I would like to do.

Where is this taking place? Where ever it is, all power to your albow! Hope you make it, imagine it's all in the taking part at this event! Truly heart warming event! (Excuse the pun ;) )

British transplant games are next July in Liverpool and world transplant games are 2017 in Spain.
I really hope to be fit and well enough to do both!

Not in the Katherine House runs, but best of luck!

I'm doing the Milford Mash up on the common on the 10th, and the Great Birmingham Run on the 18th.

Planning on signing up for the Stafford half this year too, though my time is way off yours!

Well took me over 52 minuet's to do the Katherine House race; (though concensus was that it was couple of hundred meters longer than 10K!), so I might do very well to beat 1.48 in Stafford half! It was a relatively tough course, and I have been ill since, however the 10 mile Flying Fox at Standon on November 1st, may give me a better indication of current form. Two days later, the entries for Stafford 1/2, open, Nov 3rd.

How did the Mash & Brum 1/2 go Frontal?

Mash went well, bit muddier than expected, but the atmosphere amid the runners was really great even though it was a bit of a colder day and the course was much muddier than I'd have liked.

The Brum half I haven't got my gps log up on my blog to copy across, but:

1 Mile PB: 8:25 –> 8:06 –> 19 Seconds Faster than PB
5k PB: 28:10 –> 27:23 –> 47 Seconds Faster than PB
10k PB: 1:01:11 –> 57:36 –> 3 minutes, 35 seconds Faster than PB
½ Marathon PB: 2:37:38 –> 2:12:10 –> 25 minutes, 28 seconds Faster than PB

So, still a half hour behind my brother's time ... and I was on pace for a sub 2 hour time, but the last 2.5 miles was all one uphill stretch that absolutely killed the reserves I had left.

It probably didn't help either that I got a PB on the mile off the starting line .... rookie mistake, I got caught up in the crowd. Still, I was pretty chuffed that I beat my PB's on every distance in one race.

Looking at entering the Stafford half, Lichfield half, the Stoke full, and the Edinburgh full .... depending on cash money.

Just entered online for Stafford Half; myself & No2 son doing it. Entries opened today at 12. Enter via 'RunBritain.' There is a link on this SBC page! http://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/halfmarathon
Good luck.
Did the Standon 10 mile on Sunday. Have been ill recently and foot problems, so was delighted to finish in 1.23, on an up & down country road course! If I can avoid major injury before the day, I should be close to a post injury PB! :bananafunk:

Yeah entered myself yesterday too.

I'm a bit nervous, as I'll be dialling back my training a bit over winter and spending more time in the gym. Still doing a 10 mile run once a week to keep up endurance .... I just hope I can do it in the 2 hour 30 :P
