It’s Easter don’t you know. 😉🙊
I have a smashing photo of the youngest in his Halloween/Easter costume. He's dressed as jesus in a long robe, Hands out to the side of him, hair flowing down his back. But I can't post it cos of his privacy etc etc. (He int on here) But it can be found on Farcebook almost every year!

Demolition of New Street, 1958.

Dog & Rabbit pub in the distance.

So where was New Street?

Don't worry, I've just found out. Never even knew there was a street called New Street in Stafford despite going past it hundreds of times.

So very very different from Birmingham's New Street I've always thought.

Across the end of it was Cross Street, now just a footpath from the steps at the town side of the Greyfriars shops to the alleyway that comes out by Chell's.

For some time, the surgery at the end of New Street was called Cross Street Surgery, long after the actual road disappeared.

Edit - It seems to be closed now, but Street View still has old images with the nameplate showing.

But the Dog and Rabbit survived for another sixteen years allowing me to have drunk there.

I don't remember ever going in there, so either I didn't or it was a very hospitable place.

Likewise Stafford's and Birmingham's Corporation Street.
And Stafford's and Birmingham's Broad Street.
Which reminds me what a tranquil town we have.

I had dealings with Lord Lichfield via his Oxford Gardens address - in London.

I sometimes look at the house with the same address in Stafford and wonder if they ever got any mistaken callers or mail?
