Samsung handset problems "Not Registered on Network"

Has anybody had a "Not Registered on Network" problem before with their phone, especially Samsung handsets? I can't seem to phone/message/or go on the internet using 3G

Is the SIM activated properly on your network?

Is the phone set up for 3G on the network?

Does the SIM card and/or 3G work properly in another phone?
