Won't turn on, I think the battery might have gone but seen on the Web that if you take the back off and disconnect the battery and reconnect it sometimes powers up and starts to charge again,
Phoned Eastgate computers (they don't repair tablets ) Wardcomputers seems to have shut down, probably need the prying tools as well, new battery only costs about 15 quid , so might try that if I can't find anyone in stafford

Tried the guys in the ancient high house? They were the only ones willing to touch my OHs sony that died.

From what i hear , the solution is to pry open the unit , disconnect the battery from the board and manually Jump the terminals of the battery with the correct wattage/voltage for a few mins to get some charge back in.
..then replace and charge as normal and the unit should start.

Can't say what its like now but I worked there over 10 years ago. I will say we never replaced a working part, but we did have a lot of computers to fix so time was precious. We were encouraged to reinstall a PC if we couldn't immediately solve the problem, customers were more happy to pay for a backup and reinstall than for a fix we couldn't promise was permanent. I honestly think I could fix 80% of the faults without a reinstall, but I'd have needed several hours at each one and people expected it for a tenner whereas they'd pay £25+ for a reinstall that fixed even more than I could.

But like I said, I left about 10 years ago.

just an update to this , i successfully replaced the USB ribbon cable today and its now charging with no problems.
took a quick look at the battery and i cant see any problem changing that over so ive ordered a spare.

i used a cheap kit to prise the unit open from ebay for a few pound and it made the job a lot easier .
