Walton High School open so far........ but they usually let them all struggle in from far & wide and then send them back home half an hour later!

Son not impressed that Walton school will be open for pupils taking exams, no matter how deep the snow . He's now cussing the snow rather than "Yay,a day off"

I don't remember Bower Norris or Blessed William Howard ever being closed because of snow. The only time I can remember Bower Norris closing was when the boiler broke in the middle of the day and we were sent home and also had the next day off whilst it was being fixed.

At BWH we used to slide along on the snow or ice to flatten it and make long slides. Brilliant fun.

Only a small handful closed in Wolves. Sandwell looks like at least half are closed with Dudley following suit. All of mine are at school including #3 who gets bused across town into Tettenhall. Youngest is staying home though, i'm not treking that bloody hill in this for just under 3 hours before doing it again. It's just nursery so she can stay home.

The fortunate people who went on the school buses from BWH were sometimes allowed home early. The rest of us were consigned to the assembly hall, our noses pressed up against snowy windows, watching them leave. The big seasonal concession was the Girls May Wear Trousers announcement which was made when temperatures fell a long way below zero.

I remember the "Girls May Wear Trousers" announcements!

I was there from 76 - 81. What about you?

Aren't you lucky! Alleynes (Stone) refused point blank to let us wear trousers even if it was 4ft deep. We could walk to school in them, but had change immediately when we got there, threatened with detention if you kept them on. I remember being sent home early because of the snow a few times, took us over 3hours one time to walk from Stone to Moddershall, like blocks of ice for yonks after.

We were taken by coach from Walton to have our lessons in BWH each day :( (Wasn't as many of us in Walton in those days!)
What stuck in my mind at BWH was having to walk on the left side of the corridors and prefects everywhere. Used to be (and still is) a free-for-all in the corridors at Walton and they don't have prefects. Bit of a shock to our systems :D

Barnfields has never closed for snow .

I remember Walton never closing - but one afternoon there were limited staff it was snowing like a good'un I think we were sat in a classroom most of the day watching videos - so half of us decided to promptly do a bunk out of the back gate and home!

Wow if Barnfields is closing i wonder if they'd close Marshlands too? It didn't close for weather while my daughter was there but things are changing.
I'm actually a little concerned about her present school. It's getting nasty out there and reading on fb etc folk are saying Tettenhall is quite bad. Fingers crossed the roads stay clear, it's not like i can walk over to collect her if they close and the bus doesn't run.
