Second new Aldi?

This is not first hand, but my wife was walking our dog and went down by the tesco express and across to the ford garage, near the ford garage compound on the stone road was a planning application for an aldi. She didn't catch the date or planning number.

It's no problem, there are unlikely to be any fatalities.

It had all gone a bit quiet on the northern arm of the Aldi pincer movement.

Still don't get why we don't have one at J14, would make a lot of sense with the new houses coming.
Because then you'd have two on one road (A34) within about 4 miles of each other? I'm not sure how much spare space there is up there now, as GE, ABB and others are moving onto the Primepoint site.

Cost

Aldi aren't 'cheap' because they pay top whack for sites

Water, very, very nearly lapping up the wall of the new Aldi as I drove past a couple of hours ago - unsurprisingly perhaps, but slightly worrying all the same.

The (then) new Lidl at Greyfriars was flooded just before it opened. Maybe it's some sort of conspiracy scam to buy sites known to be at risk.

The entrance to the new Aldi appears amazingly close to the road.... surely it should've been built the opposite way round.

The former ambulance station ( now Tesco on the Stone Road ) was built the wrong way around

Plans

You had one way to hold them

Not according to the plans. The thing with Aldi's is because of the generic format of the layout the entrance is usually the opposite end to where the truck delivers. Given the limited space I'm guessing it would be a H&S risk for people trying to access the site if the delivery bay was next to the road....

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
The store was supposed to be built facing the road but it was turned 90º because of an issue with the bungalow at the back. It wouldn't have looked very good how originally planned but now it's a real eyesore.

As for the water lapping the base, the water is no different to the level it's been before, it looks more noticeable now though.
