I'm going to offer the first person who wants this service's at cost. i.e. you pay for the domain name. I'll do all the design/configuration for free, I'll then use this as an example.

Send me a PM if interested.

Why not approach a local business that relies on high visual impact to promote yourself, eg an artist, photographer, clothes designer etc

Yeah, that would defiantly work, although I can rank on Google for almost any business. Local Gardner, Plasterer etc you name it so there doesn't have to be any limitations.

That's the key point here, getting you qualified traffic from the first page of Google for your niche.

If you already have a website that isn't doing much, I can get you traffic.

Lots of firms will design you a website, and that will be that. Useless to a business, what's the point in having a pretty website if no one visits it. I offer the website, the graphics and most importantly the SEO all in one.

Unfortunately a lot of companies fall victim to this. They get a web design studio to make them a website and think they will get a windfall of enquires, this rarely happens. The site needs to be search engine optimised which can often take weeks if not months and years in some cases.

Depending on the competition I can usually rank most things within a few days to 6 weeks, on top of having a nice looking website. I should point out I also specialise in graphics design or more specifically brand design.

Please take my comments in the manner they are intended my SEO comrade. I'm playing devils advocate.

On what search phrase? If I want 'used car' or 'mortgage' you can rank that in 6weeks?

For what search term? If it is 'nameofthebusiness' then that is not very impressive (or useful). If however the search term is 'service they provide' then that is SEO and is invaluable to the business.

In my experience a lot of business owners don't really get SEO. Pre-qualifying potential clients and managing their expectations is something we must all be vigilant with. This means us SEO's, Dev & Designers have to stick together.

I'm asking these questions so you can better qualify the great work you have been doing and hopefully generate even more leads.

* before any1 suggest myself and adawson are in competition you are wrong. I am not taking on any new clients - so if you do want SEO services you're better speaking to adawson than to me.

As you well know, that will take considerable longer to do :). As a rule of thumb anything with less then 100,000 Exact match competition as opposed to broad match can be ranked within 6 weeks usually a lot quicker. Its not always about the volume of competition, age of the competitions domains etc can significantly increase the time scale.

The keyword research I will initially do will allow me to pick the best keywords to go for filtering out the many issues that increase the time to get to the top whilst maintaining a decent amount of traffic.

This research will also allow me to look at the competition in general. I could possible rank for something upto 300,000+ exact match competition depending on the quality of back links etc and other factors.

Yes the site is for local serviced offices. I've completed the site, branding, photography and obviously the SEO.

If anyone at all would like examples, feel free to me a PM.

Or you can spam the **** out of other peoples forums, to make your site look more popular.
LOL Nice one! I was just reading down this thread wondering how long it would be before someone said that! I was just about to say that very same thing :D

Interestingly enough I am doing a special 'spam the chuff out of other peoples forums' MyCult New Years package...
I'm interested to know how this works.

As has been alluded to elsewhere, there appears to be an 'infinite number of typewriters/infinite number of monkeys' interFACE going on at the moment - that is, (ie - id est - that is) the 'spam the chuff' element of 'spamming the chuff out of other peoples forums' still has to be performed by performing monkeys (ie we're just monkeys with car keys). As a proponent of the SEO dark arts, is this the current way of the web? How easy is it to substitute a monkey with a robot?

I ask because the almost supernaturally insensitive 'garyspeed' spamster seemed to be half monkey/ half robot. Each of their posts did this weird

Code:
Previous post said string = "spin on my meat"

> Post "Meat spin my upon, i can add to this"
sort of thing - explained only by Weird Algorithm (Yankovic), or dodgy translation (crap in/crap out), or more likely dodgy translation of translation (crap in/crap out/crap back in again/even weirder crap out).

This is not the first time this has happened - Admin being on the case it is not possible to link to examples - but it's odd that Admin can say that only monkeys can register, yet some of them are distinctly robotic when they are here.

Obviously i'm not asking you to reveal the 'look into my eyes only the eyes' tricks of your trade - but you are equally obviously a good sort, so what's the Bobby?

Well, you could use a monkey to make the account then a robot to write the spam? But if you don't get asked a proper question on signup, then bots can sign up too.

cough cough

Not in itself illegal or (imho) that bad. The problem is when you hand a machine gun to a farking monkey it's carnage at the zoo.

* also to clarify - I am not doing any sort of spam the chuff out of anything deal. That was a joke post. FACE.

I'm kind of with you there.

I suppose if it becomes unrelentingly and oppressively in your FACE it might get a bit more than tiresome, but in general i find it quite easy to ignore and get on with my daily nonsense.

If you take this forum as an example - i reckon you get input from on average 20 - 30 people, once or twice, or a bit more, a day (give or take), to give something in the order of 60 to 100 posts? Within that context you'll get, what, 2 to 5 doses of spam daily?

By my very rough reckoning that has to be ~one percent on a not "(imho) that bad" day, ~five percent on a stinker.

Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practise to optimise our web presence.
