main roads were gritted though the A518 got a bit scary after Chartley and the A50 was fine most of the way to Derby. The Parkway was pretty clear on the approach although the drop down to Park Island/Rounabout was only clear on one lane. Wellinton Street was ungritted as of 11am though didna pose too much trouble. We had a night at the Travelodge close to Ponds Forge and even closer to the Norfolk Arms, must be Sheffields version of the Rose and Crown! enjoyed a few cheap beers in the Number One Bar not sure if it has another name but i think it was an old water company site. Monday lunch we were in The Museum a modern place but good choice, value for money and they had a Kelham Island Brew on. Biggest downer has to be Cafe Rouge close by the peace gardens, all in all bland tastless and overpriced..........cookie_monster said:if you havent set off you may want to rethink it.basil said:Looking at the snow this morning i'm thinking i'd best set out a bit earlier........
ive just got up and theres already 4 inches at hillsborough (on low ground) and its coming down hard.
wellington street and town probably wont be too bad (the city centre always melts quicker due to increased foot and road traffic) but its sunday and there wont be that many people out.
if you do come, have a safe journey, bring a shovel, blanket and a thermos of warm drink. cat litter is also supposed to be good for traction if you get stuck too.
