if you havent set off you may want to rethink it.

ive just got up and theres already 4 inches at hillsborough (on low ground) and its coming down hard.

wellington street and town probably wont be too bad (the city centre always melts quicker due to increased foot and road traffic) but its sunday and there wont be that many people out.

if you do come, have a safe journey, bring a shovel, blanket and a thermos of warm drink. cat litter is also supposed to be good for traction if you get stuck too.

Oooooo! All this chat, has made me read back over previous postings. Its been a bit like a trip down memory lane. Despite me thinking mine is berreft, I can still remember the incidents, and even remember writing things! Who thought reading staffordforum good be such a good excercise for recovering victims of traumatic brain injury!

(well you could have aked me, 'cos i'd have told you, you numptie! Ed

main roads were gritted though the A518 got a bit scary after Chartley and the A50 was fine most of the way to Derby. The Parkway was pretty clear on the approach although the drop down to Park Island/Rounabout was only clear on one lane. Wellinton Street was ungritted as of 11am though didna pose too much trouble. We had a night at the Travelodge close to Ponds Forge and even closer to the Norfolk Arms, must be Sheffields version of the Rose and Crown! enjoyed a few cheap beers in the Number One Bar not sure if it has another name but i think it was an old water company site. Monday lunch we were in The Museum a modern place but good choice, value for money and they had a Kelham Island Brew on. Biggest downer has to be Cafe Rouge close by the peace gardens, all in all bland tastless and overpriced..........

yeah, that area round the markets is colourful to say the least! not sheffield city centres finest feature. :/

i cant think where you mean for the cheap drinks, theres all bar one on leopold street, but its not that cheap in there.

totally agree about cafe rouge. the only time ive ever eaten there properly was in cambridge and it made my mind up never to go again. however, i broke that a few years ago when the folsk came to visit and we stopped for a coffee on ecclesall road after visiting the botanical gardens...but sitting outside with a coffee doesnt properly count!

glad the drive wasnt too bad and the thaw set in pretty quickly...i felt like a bit of a plum walking home in my wellies yesterday when there was no snow left! lol

hope you had good time and that your grandson was suitably spoiled. :)

Any suggestions on Sheffield city centre parking with an option for overnight? I am visiting Devonshire street so a short walk from there would be handy
