What's the definition of spamming these days.... first post being an advert for your business...? I suppose at least it is a locall business but still bad form surely?

Bit harsh at this stage. You can't blame someone for wanting to advertise their business. One post, in the correct section seems fair enough to me :)

I purposefully asked it as a question a so as not to come across as "harsh" but it doesn't appear to have worked? :boh:

Fair enough, as you say its posted in the right section and I suppose only time will tell if the OP is a post and run or a regular contributor.... we've seen it many, many times before though with people that post an ad then never appear on here again. Hopefully not the case here.

Hi,

I don't really consider it spamming. I have been recently told of this forum so decided to join up. I have advertised it in the right section. It is the whole point of the classified section for businesses to post. I hope that this post may be of some help for people looking for computer services. As for contributing i will do my best.

Thanks

when I joined, I did so in a similar manner advertising as a first post. I was swiftly updated on forum rules and I'm still contributing regularly a few years on - and glad that I am too. I'd go almost as far as to say this forum is my second home! ;)

When i first joined i introduced myself in the General banter section first then i posted my advert here, but i am guessing sticking around and gaining members trust is what will drive the business you get from here, for instance i pointed a client of mine the other day who is having pc/laptop problems to WMRComputers because of the great reviews received on here.
Anyway good luck SLS i hope you become a contributing member of the forum.

I believe that's one I'm working on now, so thanks for the referral! :)
