I'm not a doctor but there is probably a difference in walking around doing your own thing in that weather and just standing in a single place.So the BBC did a news report about the weather in North America saying people had been told not to go out. If people did go out the newsreader said they'd been told not to breathe deeply and don't talk.
He then switched to a UK reporter in Chicago who spent about two minutes continuously speaking in the open air and taking deep breathes telling us exactly the same thing.
Pot, kettle comes to mind.
More importantly why was it necessary to send a UK reporter when a local one could have conveyed the same message. No doubt our licence money will pay for a cosy hotel until the reporter can be safely evacuated.
