You don’t actually need the deeds nowadays anyway, everything is done electronically by the land registry (assuming it is registered). You can download your deeds from their website for a couple of quid.

This thread is relevant to me also. Just had an offer accepted on my first purchase. The estate agent recommended Redlers and have quoted £933. From posts here there seems about the going rate for a purchase only?

Thanks. Quote through that coming in at £800 so might take them up on that!
I have no experience of that company, so I am not recommending them. I just found it online, there are plenty of others similar. Just thought it would give you some comparative quotes to either take up or use as a bargaining tool with somebody local.

To be honest I prefer to deal with a ‘real’ person face to face.

I don’t know anything about Redler’s, but all estate agents have a ‘pet’ solicitor who they will recommend. They are likely to be on some kind of commission deal, so you might find it cheaper to use someone else, if cost is an issue.
