A shirt is not easy to make - you could take apart an old one that fits you well and try copying it..

Unhappily, I have neither the ability nor a sewing machine, just thought that £35 to £40 was a bit steep, I'm probably wrong.

Anything, bespoke, i.e one-off is always relatively expensive. These people have a business and hard- earned skill. When they have factored in all their overheads even the smallest one-person business will have to charge somewhere in the region of at least £25/hr just to stay in business, and take little more than the Statutory Minimum Wage. They will be surviving from week to week and the smallest financial or health crisis will put them out of business.
