There's a Spitfire due to display over Creswell at 2.30 pm today, as part of Captain Perrin Memorial event.

It was 70 years ago today that Captain Perrin died in his stricken plane, whilst remaining at the controls to ensure it did not crash into Tillington Primary School and the houses around First and Second Avenue. Missed him, gutted. I'm off to Fairford next weekend where he is displaying with a Typhoon....whooooohoooo !!

I saw it too. There were dozens of people in the lay-bys along the A34 watching and filming with mobile phone. I was traveling to stoke and stopped to watch it. Glad to know what it was for.
