Is this the sort of charitable trust like the housing one, in which the directors vote to pay themselves? And is it possible that it will be presided over by the outgoing head of leisure and rugby if the gravy train to Bristol gets derailed?

Is there another sort?

Not likely - one suspects that such an outcome might have been one of the 'drivers' toward the drive toward it, but it wouldn't have looked good on LinkedIn if he hadn't profited from it. One suspects that the Bristol gig is a jump before the shove - real or imagined.

What is the Leisure & Culture 'portfolio' in October 2017?

Not much to be proud of...

What about the forthcoming Doxey Marsh rugby facility, guaranteed to cure all ills.

Well done. A nice little sideswipe at Stafford Borough Council's evidence re the Rugby Club development in the Inspector's report as well.

Surely you're not suggesting the council made an error in connection with the rugby club?

16. The Council evidence indicates that the new Stafford Rugby Club facility would accommodate its future growth but also would be used to capacity. Such a view appears contradictory and in any case, there is no substantiated evidence relating to forthcoming capacity, existing capacity, or otherwise, of adult rugby pitches elsewhere in Stafford beyond the publication date of the OSSRAU.

No conspiracy theory about the appeal officer being handed brown envelopes by the cricket club?

Or is it due process when it suits you and fraud when it doesn't?

In other news, as a local resident, I'm pleased for the cricket/hockey club.

Taking it to the high court is what it says ( planning inspectorate website) you can do if you think they made a legal mistake.
I can't see how any argument can be made that this is the case from reading the report.

I'm also a resident and therefore very pleased with the decision, less pleased that the case involved yet more waste of public funds. Not quite sure what you're complaining about. Knowingly supplying duff info to the Inspectorate is fraudulent, isn't it?

Enjoying a drop of red.

Neither can I but SBC does seem to think it is omnipotent at times. Plus as all it would cost is taxpayers money they might as well...

I hope I'm wrong because the Cricket/Hockey Club brings a lot to Stafford and deserves this chance to grow.

You would think so, wouldn't you...

However it's not just the council. It's the other organisations that put forward dubious arguments that are just as much to blame.

I don't see it as a conspiracy; more as a perfect storm of incompetence, negligent advice from paid council employees, self-absorbed and self-interested organisations as well as general twattery.

I allegedly hear the council's General Twattery Dept is so successful it's being expanded and actively seeking new officers. Base salary very low, but there are huge bonus incentives.
