Wow, that's a big surprise. My mother was there from Sept 2013 until she passed away in April and the people there were very nice.

Fit a fair few houses on that......

I've been saying for a few years now, Lichfield road really could do with about 300 more cars on it.

I bet if you did some analysis of Stafford traffic you'd find that those who live in the town drive out of it for work, those who live outside of the town drive into it for work.

There's a hint of selling it as a going concern, with associated development potential in the grounds.

What are they Gareth? & why do you (always claim to) know so much?
Ie. in what capacity?

He's the resident council agent whose mission is to convince us that everything is great, and we should feel privileged to inhabit such a wonderful town, with such fantastic local government.

I do not work for the council you cheeky sod far too savvy and successful with my own businesses thank you. I have said before I have legal consultancy firm that specialise in the retail industry not that should explain to the real closet council worker of the forum who is to afraid to use their own name in case they get sussed.
to answer little me this info comes from my elderly aunt who is a regular knee bender at the church. There are only 4 nuns left who will be returning to the mother house (yes thats right) in dublin who own the property. One must not forget this is a private nursing home with its own matron and is likely to stay as such.

That's clear then, Garteh. If you are savvy and successful, then you can't work for a local authority. Do council workers have smaller dangly bits as well?

I have reason to visit and work in the convent and have done for a good number of years. It is without doubt a shining beacon of quality care for the elderly in the Stafford area. The information is correct that the number of resident nuns has diminished in recent years and is no longer sustainable therefore they are indeed pulling out. Their house in Dublin I believe is also undergoing some changes.

The convent has been viewed by a fair few prospective purchasers and is to be sold as a going concern. The residents are aware of this situation.

I am truly saddened by this event as will be many in the town. The convent has been here for many many years and again another building of good use and taste is to be lost....
