Just got back, rather unsteady on my crutches but had a great night. Met Chris Lewis :) was a pleasure, consumed many different beers and a couple of ciders. Black Dragon rocks!! The food was excellent and all was good. Congrats to The Sun Inbn guys for winning the Pub Of The Year and Slaters for winning what ever it was they won :P The Swanin Stonw won the best Cider Pub.

If you like ciders, try Woody's, produced in Staffordshire and very, very good. For some reason it isn't with the other ciders but is right at the far end of the "Nationale" bar. Lots of other good ciders, perrys and beers an the food from the Lewis partnership is great.

Will take a wander down tomorrow evening - and a stagger back if last year was anything to go by!

Unfortunately, Mrs King had to go to bed early last night so I had to drink her share. The beers were very good, and one particular Perry (which I will refer to as Perry X) was outstanding. The bar staff were very friendly (apologies to the gentleman from Doxey who rode passed me on his bike and said something but Zulu Winter were otherwise engaging my ears n.b. This was after the beer festival had finished, not during, just in case anybody going tonight or tomorrow expects their drink drinks to be served by unicycling bar staff). The raised counters are a big improvement and the Paella was excellent. On an Olympic theme I will be back with a hops sip and a jump this evening and hope for an endless Summer.

Have visited the last 2 nights and very impressed. Numbers certainly up on last 2 years, around 250-300 tonight. Excellent range of ales - my favourites: BearStaff Peach Melbear, Titanic Cappuchino Stout, Slaters Marranvillo Raspberry, Purple Moose Snowdonia and Jaipur IPA (forget the brewer). Also worth trying Hopback Summer Lighting. really good food from the Lewis partnership - excellent cheeseburgers, and raves about the paella. Joined CAMRA on the night for £23 as you get your entry fee back (£3) plus £20 of Wetherspoon beer vouchers = free!!! Good live music from pistol 44 and Tombola is almost no-los (i won 3 prizes from 10 tickets). If you're wondereing whether to go, just do it!! - Really great night, and load of female ale fans there. Plenty of Ciders & Perrys too. Highly recommended and well done to the organisers.

I would recommend you all try the titanic cappuccino stout. Brought back memories of christmas's as achild and the coffee cream chcolates from the selection boxes. My vote for beer of the festival.

went last night and again for a few hours today and as a CAMRA member i cannot fault the festival this year.

And a big thanks to Chris Lewis and staff. Excellent food, and very friendly service (as you would expect from them).

Loved the chicken n pepper paella. After seeing Chris in his shorts and chefs apron early this evening was a bit disturbing though lol

Also tried the veggie burger (and im not a veggie) very nice indeed. But the cheese burgers were fab as well. Thanks guys, hope you do next years festival.

oh Rowley Regis, the Jaipur IPA is fromThornbridge, a crackin beer, as your head will find out if you have too much of the stuff.....and glad to here youve joined the cause.....real ale for life.

Didn't realise anyone would notice me, as the quality of the beer is so good, love the Liverpool Organic, Envile Chechmate Saaz was superb, but my favourite tonight was the Slater's Maravilla.

Hope you haven't drunk all the Jaipur IPA as I've been hearing good reports all day about it!

Another great night, see you all on Saturday!

Get there early, I think 6 beers have already sold out. Worth going for the food anyway.

CAMRA membership, £23 if you use direct debit, 2 free half pints on the day, refund of the difference between public entrance fee and members entry, £20 worth of wetherspoons tokens sent to you when your membership has been processed, discounts in some pubs for CAMRA members, other discounts to CAMRA members from the likes of Canal Cruising Co, the people who run Warwick Castle & Legoland ...

I think one of the Liverpool organics has run out. I came across this a couple of years ago in the Lord Warden in Liverpool ( 200 yards from Lime Street and only £2 a pint then). Certainly enjoyed it last night along with the Marble and Jaipur.

Good to hear that everyone is enjoying the festival so far!
Just to confirm there are still plenty of beers and ciders left to enjoy (75+).

We will update the beer situation on Twitter (@StaffsBeerFest), Facebook (Stafford Beer Festival) and on here if possible with regard to beers this evening but I'm sure there will be plenty of choice tonight, as well as great food and music (from Martyn Heath). And it is free to get in :)

And don't forget today is Ladies tasting day, starting at 2pm Vicky Slater will be hosting a tasting of selected beers at the festival it's free and apparently last year the samples were very generous :)

I had a lovely time yesterday I had the following:

  • Morton - Jelly Roll
  • Peakstones Rock - Pugins Gold
  • Quartz - Blonde
  • Townhouse - Stygian Pale (they didn't have the Cascade wheat beer I really wanted to try)
  • Oakhams - Endless Summer
  • Thornbridge - Jaipur IPA
  • Weatheroak - Light Oak
I really enjoyed the Mortons Jelly Roll - the only beer I had twice, and both the Oakhams and the Thornbridge were excellent.

I had a great time helping out as a volunteer behind the bar last night for a couple of hours and wished I could have stayed longer. The band was great as was the food. Well done to all the guys

Just want to say that anyone thinking this sort if thing is boring men in scandals is well wrong. Ok we were at the family friendly session but there was an interesting cross section of the community and despite trying ito Ignore preconceptions so many women with half pints did seem odd!

Will definitely go back next time.
