I can fully recommend this film club (well, the gatehouses setas get a little uncomfy after 3 hrs). I saw a selection of excellent films I'd missed elsewhere - very good value for money.

Astro Boy

Pocket Rocket
The Lives Of Others is also an excellent film to kick off with (albeit a little serious). Not to be missed.

Anyone working in the Gatehouse ? Could you put a word in for the 'flying scotsman' (film about Graham Obree starring Johnny Lee Miller). They never screened it in Stafford or Stoke.

Many Thanks

You need to contact the Stafford Film Theater guys, via their website, rather than the Gatehouse, if you have suggestions.

Stafford film theatre should do an Anime special. I would love to see Akira or some Studio Ghibli films.
I'm looking forward to "Ne le dis à personne" - Tell no one. I've only heard good things about ths film but I'm sure would be even better if Julie Delpy was in it :)

What would you guys like to see on the Film Theatre big screen?

How about some world cinema, in sets of three.

The Vengeance Trilogy by Chan-Wook Park:
SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE
OLD BOY
LADY VENGEANCE

The Guillermo Del Toro Collection:
PAN’S LABYRINTH
CRONOS
THE DEVILS BACKBONE

……or maybe an all night session over Halloween watching back-to-back Zombie movies.

doors open at 7 to 7:30, but it gets a bit busy - you can always go to the bar before if your early. Films usually start at 8pm.

The official word is that things get going at 7:30 (some ads and stuff) and the film starts 15 minutes later - but usually it's around 8 as there is a little intro from the guys talking about what's coming up and then the raffle.

Strange film tonight - never quite sure what's real and what's dream. Some cool animation and excelent use of cardboard!

Next week isthe start of the Film Festival with 'This is England' (which has been talked about else where but I'll let Wookie fill in the link!). Then there are some extra films:
Wednesday 3 Oc t - Notes on a Scandle -up at the University TV centre
Thursday 4 Oct - Hallam Foe - at the Gatehouse
Friday 5 Oct - 300 - Uni
Saturday 6 Oct - Hairspray (the new one :( ) - The Gatehouse

At some point during the festival there is also a film about old Stafford on at the Picture House/ Witherspoons but I've not got the litterature with me here.
