I may have spoken too soon... Let's hope not. My other gran has gone in for an operation too, luckily she lives in Kent! *optimistic*me said:Don't worry, my grandma had one this week and is doing great.staffordjas said:OMG Hope they get it improved bloody quick.I'm having a big op in SDGH in a couple of weeks time!
Hopefully it can't be as bad as Birmingham City Hospital. My mother-in-law died there ,after spending a nightmare few weeks being told to wee in the bed,as they didn't have time to come around with bed-pans and it was then changed once a day(if that)!
Just rememeber, dont let anyone come near you for any reason unless you have seen them wash their hands or use hand gel (dont be fobbed off with "i did it round the corner just before i came to you).staffordjas said:OMG Hope they get it improved bloody quick.I'm having a big op in SDGH in a couple of weeks time!

I have seen this too. Its a terrible state. Its true there are some great nurses there but i think of the majority of the others they arent bad but just very down trodden and put upon. They are so understaffed that sometimes they just have to plod on which is when we get people on commodes for far too long. It isnt right and it isnt acceptable but before we label these staff as bad ones we should consider their situation. But we will also find, i am sure, that some if them are just bad.Mrs M said:My mother is in there at the moment and it is so understaffed it's unbeleivable. Poor women are being left on their commodes and bed pans for up to an hour, I know this to be true as I see it regular and no exageration. I have some other horror stories to tell too but not enough hours in the day. Unfortunately we forget to mention that there are some good nurses there and they are being tarred with the same brush. You'd think though that with all the bad press that they have been having lately that the bad ones would clean their act up a bit.
That could be the issue, a fair few I know shipped out - abroad.basil said:either shape up or ship out...........
Apparantly health ministers have said they wont be taking this advice to make redundancies, so loks like Monday alot of staff will be getting P45s. Maybe they should just sack a couple health minsters? The savings not just in their slaries but their incompetence, mis-management and daft initiatives would save millions.John Marwood said:soon to be minus ten per cent? plus tax

Agreed. But we well know that the public at large often want and need someone they can can actually blame especially with things like this. By having a public enquiry they could easily find someone to lay that blame on. The enquiry is about looking at what went wrong and putting things right. Holding it in public would not benefit anyone. People already know what they want it to say and held in public or private, if the result doesnt match up it will be called in to question. Because its held in private its being called a whitewash and it has hardly started. If it was public and still didnt measure up it would be accussed of not disclosing all facts or similar standard accusations.Gramaisc said:The truth shouldn't be seen as a problem.
