I've missed the transformation of this into a venue for live events.

I only became aware just now, as there seems to be a meatloaf tribute on in October.

Since about 1997, I've found Meat Loaf tribute acts to be better than the real thing.

He completely lost the plot at the last Eccleshall street festival just hammed it up. Still very entertaining.

We watched him couple of years ago at the festival at Pershall Park. Oh yeah, he hammed it up then, was good tho.

I went for a tour of it to host an event a few years ago, it's going to need a proper spruce up.
It’s telling that they’ve used a photo that is distinctly not of the Octagon. That’s the entrance round by what used to be the Epic lab isn’t it?

Curious use of it, but I can see The Pit being a good location for events I suppose. It’s big, open and has high ceilings - a combination that is honestly quite rare in Stafford.

Is it standard practice to use photos of acts at completely different venues to yours in your gallery though?

Yeah, that's not a photo of the octagon at all, it is the foyer of what was the ruxton technology center. My guess is it's not in a fit state to photograph right now (the police had been using as a tactical training venue when I went round and it was still full of staffs furniture)

It isn't a terrible use of it at all, but it would take a lot of imagination to make it feel less souless 90's office / educational and nothing about that website gives me the sense they can do that, although always happy to be surprised.

I don't think there's still a bar on site so I'm not sure what you'd do about refreshments while you were there, although the old school office would work well for that - again with a lot of imagination.

It looks like it has a lot of events lined up that I'd expect to see at the gatehouse, but that's surrounded by places to eat and drink pre and post show. Maybe the asylum seekers living in the old halls across the road are keen on Meatloaf?

Yeah the Octagon was very soulless office buildings…

There’s another photo here so it looks like they’re just gonna plumb in a bar in the pit: https://www.stafford.fm/local-news-...ternal/stafford-to-get-new-live-events-venue/

It could be done well for sure, time will tell if it has been though.
