Stafford Park - Victoria Park renovation

In order to save money in these financially straightened times, perhaps we could catch and train some of the birds that infest the Market Square - they could then be called stool-pigeons.

Passing there at about 12 on Thursday night and about 1am Saturday morning there were kids in there on the frames and also the boarding bowl. Again when I pass today theres kids in there on bikes. The gates are locked and there's equipment in there so its obviously not open for proper use. Surely that's what's classed as trespassing then and they could be on or in things that aren't commisioned? Theres CCTV in the area and patrol cars passing. I wonder if any injured party would attempt to claim off the council if they got hurt?
Strange old world inteet!!

No skin off my nose but if they're using stuff that isn't quite ready it's their tough luck if they get hurt and the place isn't open.
The clue being in the fact "it isn't open yet" and "its locked for a reason". If something isn't open its generally not for general use yet, but then again we live in a society where people think they are the exception to the rule. Ah, maybe i just use too much common sense.

I'm just entertained by the fact that, upon seeing bikers enjoying the new biker part of the park, the first thought isn't 'oh, how nice' but 'what if they fall, who will they sue? Where are the police? Isn't that trespass on public land?'

Surely that's what's wrong with the country today, not the fact kids are going into a locked park?

Cos that's the first thing the little darlings will do,try n sue the arses off the council! The world is compensation mad, nevermind they shouldn't be in the park in the first place. When we walked past last night (bout 8.30ish) there were loads of young uns on bikes etc, i'm pretty sure the park rangers aren't there just to make the flower beds pretty,if owt goes wrong they're there to call for help etc. Loads of police driving past and not 1 stopping to tell the kids to get out.

Peh, any kids who injure themselves would hobble off home with their tail between their legs. It's not teenagers driving the compensation culture.

Saw them yesterday afternoon about 4.00 ish whilst feeding the ducks. They got in by going round the bottom of the fence seperating the car park from the park (wet feet I'll bet), Watched them for a bit, thought it was OK personally at least it was keeping them off the streets.

Would you say the same if kids were playing in the old fire damaged St Georges site....

Not much difference as I see it, until the park is officially finished and opened to the public then it isn't a park, its a building site...

i do not think That council will hire someone to clean up cats shit! they all ready splash lots of money for improvement, and I wouldn't be surprise if They would say that if you do not like shit there so do not go there or clean up yourself

If kids are breaking in to use it in the manner in which it is intended to be used, then that is surely a great vote of confidence.

All i can say is 'sand' *shudder. A great idea but sadly it's hard to keep clean and practical. I've had a quick glance as i've passed and i'm hoping i'm wrong but so far i can't see much suitable for my disabled 4 yo or my 2 yo. I can see plenty that they will fall off or get stuck on, but as i say hopefully i've just missed it.
I take it they have gotten rid of the paddling pool in favour of the lido style like at Walsall arbouretum? Those are great fun but can get very crowded.
Has anyone seen anything put in to create some shade? I was there last summer and the constant sun was far too much for me.

All things said it's looking nice though.

A very good point... a year or two ago the council DOUBLED the cost of football pitch hire for football team (so much for healthy lifestyles hey?) and we still have to clear dog sh*t off the pitch ourselves...

So if pitches we pay for gon't get monitored / cleared for sh*t then don't expect the playground to if you are paying nothing to use it...

Maybe some traffic lights on the sand pit entrance will stop those pesky cats?!?!?

Worth a try! They clearly solve every other problem (according to SCC at least :/ )

Not sure about these facts but apparently on the sand situation - its a type of fine sand that cats or dogs wont dig and crap in. Must get some to put on my bloody lawn then!!

Dont shoot the messenger!!
