Bap Shop’s boarded up. This may be old news though, I haven’t been into town in ages.

Shame, used to be a nice place to go it the quality and atmosphere went down dramatically when it was bought out

That looks like a break in more than a closure, Stafford town is rife with dicks and it's pretty lawless at night, but yeah, the quality did go to shit when they were took over and the original team left. ... Let's get Wimpy back there ;)

The Katharine house shop up from cash converters had it's main window smashed recently...

I'd imagine it is, I mean if it's only generating 78000 annually, the rent is 144,000+22k initially, that'd leave a grand loss of 88000 ....

I can't see anyone ever taking on Argos tbh, let alone the bap shop. Also it always looks run down, they haven't replaced the broken window even.

That area was great about 2 decades ago.

That part of town is completely doomed. Iceland are committed long term to a lease but the rest are only on short term leases.

No local person or national chain would touch that area with a barge pole.

It just looks so run down and desolate.

I believe I said at least a couple of years ago that all that end of town from old co-op to Bell end should be bull dozed. All the shops moved to what is now the 'business' end and some nice apartments, green areas and seating put where that end is.

I also think that end should be fully redeveloped. I'm all for keeping the remaining historic facades but apartments, homes and green space is exactly what is needed. Won t happen because this is Stafford, a town with a small minded traditionalist backward thinking money grabbing council :(. See the consistent desecration of all our green spaces and fields for evidence.

Are any of those buildings listed though? They don’t look like they should be but you never know what horrible looking stuff is listed

I’m a bit disappointed that the playing fields and rugby club are all being built up though, theres not going to be any green areas left there.

Some of those buildings aren't actually horrible. Don't just look at the shops at the bottom - look above them - you'll see loads of lovely features. Gargoyles, water spouts, nice windows and architecture. Loads of the buildings on both sides of the street from EE shop down to Brighthouse have amazing features. I'm always telling people off for not looking up - we miss so much of the world by not paying attention.

We do have a shortage of housing though and the Derrington trail, the walk up to the castle over the fields and Doxey marshes are all really close by.
