Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

If you go out of the door from the Guildhall into St Mary's Yard and look up, there is an example of Witch's Knickers that you would go a long way to find a more elevated example of.

I keep hearing rumours that the bowling alley is going to be demolished as part of the new road scheme, as such I would have expected them to relocate into town. The ideal place would have been at kingsmead before the units were subdivided.

Pretty sure Lidl is definitely being demolished, but no one knows if that's being placed elsewhere either .

Neither Lidl nor Bowling demolition are part of the road plans

Construction starts in June for 92 weeks

92 piles to be , erm, piled, on the marshes

Never in the history of stafford has that phrase been applicable
It was once, for a few days in the early '80s, when there was a mini-roundabout at the Corporation Street / Sandon Road / Albert Terrace junction.

I doubt it was there for much more than a week, though - then it was replaced with the inevitable traffic lights....

The demolition of Halfords and the addition of a roundabout, minus lights, could be money well spent

But so would funding more health education, drink and drug rehabilitation and youth facilities

So that'll never happen

Enjoying a drop of red.
So two sets of traffic lights within 100 metres of each other when entering and exiting from Halfords direction. No doubt they will not be synchronised so that'll work well then...
