Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

I don't know where either of those two places are.
Oatcakes & Milkshakes is in what was Bowen's garden shop in my time - The Whitehouse - by the roundabout at the end of Chapel Street, where the cash for claims place was.

The Bakehouse is in Market Street, across from where the Tourist Information place is (was?).

I would feel reasonably confident in asserting that neither of them are likely to be 'your sort of place'.

I haven't been round the Chapel Street area for many months. Don't know how long Oatcakes & Milkshakes has been there but as I have never eaten an oatcake and have no intention of doing so, it won't be a place to go for me.

As for The Bakehouse, now you have said where it is, I realise I have seen it but have never been in.

There was a good few vans/trucks and attending works removing stuff from the Old Chambers, when I passed today! (Can't remember what it was called! Only open three days!), beverages and equipment now being reclaimed, methinks someone didn't pay their bills!

Sign in the window of My Belles this morning stating it is closed until further notice. Doesn't sound too good

Strange considering they were posting on Facebook as recently as Saturday. Family emergency maybe? We've only been in once and were disappointed with the ice creams personally but I know others have had a good experience there

Anyone know where is best to look for vacant shop details? My OH has been unable to find details on a few, and been told some simply aren't for rent despite being vacant.

Between these 4, they pretty much have everything in the sub 50k per annum bracket.

I will be honest thought it closed a few years ago.

That whole location is unsustainable nothing ever last in that stretch I am afraid to say.

That's sad. Son had his guitar lessons there after buying his guitar from him. (I will always remember the shop when hearing 'Brown Eyed Girl' ...the first song he learnt, and now firmly installed in my head :) )

Only go nowadays to replace the plectrums that I've hoovered up. Better have a walk along there and stock up before they close for good!
