Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

The place was gutted a few years ago, then all work stalled, think planning was successful in it being converted into two restaurants or a bar and a restaurant with rooms upstairs, but this was all years ago, so not to sure of the status now. Think someone overseas owns it.

The plans might have been withdrawn. Something was for that site earlier this year

yeah it was me that originally put it on about it being brought by someone overseas. He was from Cyrpus I seem to remember, came into Saffron one day and brought some undies for his Mrs who was still over there, He had come to complete the purchase that day and was thinking of opening in new year - New Year a couple of years ago, so clearly not going to happen now.

Enjoying a drop of red.
A somewhat underwhelming breakfast at The Swan this morning followed by a stroll through the Wednesday Market (precious few stalls, chuggers outnumbering stallholders 3 to 1, and annoyingly shouty butcher) has brought it home to me that, apart from Caffe Nero and the Soup Kitchen, for meetings there is really precious little reason for me to come into Stafford any more.

I can get all I need from Cannock, without the traffic queues and their market on a Friday is really good (especially the noodle bar).

Shame, but there it is.
